So the sequel of Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird will be launched on Tuesday, 14th July. Like so many others, I read it at school but it was a class reader. Can you remember the turgid Reading round the class then answering the questions then an essay at the end of it and possibly another essay in the exam.

I made nothing of it and when I saw the film with Gregory Peck, I didn’t even connect it with the book. Why? Because the book had be murdered – torn apart, dissected and spat out. The film brought it to life and that is why I think book/film tie-ins have their place.

What will I make of Go Set A watchman then? I will buy it and read it but I hope to read it for pleasure and as I have an old copy of To Kill A Mockingbird, I will read that too.

I’m going to do likewise and re-read To Kill A Mockingbird before reading the sequel. I saw the play of To Kill A Mockingbird in Edinburgh earlier this year and it was excellent. The drama of the courtroom was particularly well done.

Looking forward to reading your blog regularly!
