I haven’t blogged since 22nd November, which is a great pity. But I now realise that the Eyemouth Primary School parents, teachers and pupils might not be fully aware of my role as Patron of Reading and its purpose. So I have decided to start blogging again, starting today and I will be using the school’s Facebook page to let you know when there will be a new post highlighting children’s books old and new, authors, genres and illustrators and all things in between. Hopefully you will find something interesting!
I also hope you heard all about the Eyemouth International Storytelling Festival held in the school on Friday, 23rd October. There were two very distinct projects, the first being held on the 23rd for Eyemouth PS, Holy Trinity PS and St. Mary’s PS, both of Berwick, and Eyemouth’s three nurseries. We had 500 children and storytellers Sahand Devani from Iran and Raphael Rodan from Israel, Robert Howat, Donald Nelson, Margaret Christison, Marie Louise Cochrane, Macastory and myself. Quite a feat all round and I hope the children and staff were blown away by it.
The second part of the project involved Coldingham, Cockburnspath, Ayton and Reston PS and two of the nurseries. These four storytelling visits took place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 12th 13th and 15th January. Robert Howat visited all four primary schools and Margaret Christison the nurseries. I will be ever grateful for the funding we were allocated by Tasgadh, part of Creative Scotland who clearly appreciate what our committee is doing here and are prepared to fund it.
So that is the story to date! Tomorrow the Book Blog begins!!
