I loved The Sincatcher’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury, an astonishing first book. But I feel, although it is in Waterstones’ young adults section, parents might like to take a look at it in advance as there a couple of instances of “adult themes”. The cover is fabulous, however, and I rarely buy a book for its cover, but on this occasion it was a winner.
I am now on to The Gracekeepers by Kirsty Logan, a young Scottish author. This is a very unusual book in which the earth has more water than land, those who live on land are called landlockers and those who live on the sea are called damplings. North has a bear and lives on the water in a circus. Another beautiful cover!!!
