I haven’t been able to blog for a week as something happened to my iPad and I had to get Helen of Double Click to have a look at it. So now all is well!
The Eyemouth Primary School Storytelling Festival was a week ago. It was the most astonishing day with 500 children plus their teachers and nine storytellers. I cannot praise the school enough with both teachers and pupils welcoming us warmly and with a real interest in the storytellers and how they came to be there. Each storyteller was allocated two P7 pupils who acted as guides and assistants and it was wonderful to see our new Scots taking part in this. I was given Natalia from Russian and Modestas from Lithuania, both here for only a few years and fluent in perfect English.
As for the storytellers we were blown away by the performances by Raphael from Israel and Sahand from Iran then the usual suspects Macastory, Marie Louise Cochrane, Donald Nelson, Margaret Christison, Robert Howat and myself. I only mention myself as I was also telling but I am certainly not blowing my own trumpet.
It is such a lovely thing to be part of and I am sure it will all take place again next year.
