I am so sorry but I have not blogged for ages, in fact not since we returned from holiday. The reason? We had a Ruby Wedding celebration to organise then our lovely daughter, Beth, became engaged to Alan so we have been busy.
But, I haven’t forgotten all those out there who are reading for all different reasons, some of whom are our new friends from our Rhine river cruise.
Ann from Edinburgh had a very interesting tale tell. As a retired nurse, Ann wants to keep her nursing registration and to do this she has to read 40 books a year. Nurses have to read 6. I am really surprised particularly as Ann’s field of expertise is the rehabilitation of amputees. I am full of admiration. Other than that, Ann reads The Shetland Series by Ann Cleves and recommended two new books for me – The Reverend who killed the Congregation and The Luck of the Monarchs. I want to find out a bit more about them
Next we have Kari aged 12 from Los Angeles who has travelled widely with her grandmother, also Kari. Young Kari is a great reader and her favourite books when she was even younger are Winnie the Pooh, the Hungry Caterpillar and Dr. Seuss. My new friend Barbara in Eyemouth was a school librarian and swears that Dr. Seuss crosses all age groups. Now, however, Kari loves Paper Towns by John Green and anything by Percy Jackson – as does Kyle who also reads Percy Jackson. He was also travelling with his grandmother and it was his first trip to Europe. He promises he will be back.
I promise tomorrow I will write about Matt and his sister, Rachael, from Scranton U.S.A. I just loved them both, also 5 year old Veronica from Woodlandhills, California. But they will need a whole blog to themselves!!!
