I have just arrived back from Eyemouth this very minute, after two very busy days at Eyemouth Primary School, full of lovely children prepared to give Reading A Go!

Not everyone reads, I accept this, but this is Reading for Pleasure and Fun – just because you can and not because you have to.

Mrs. Fazakerly, Mrs. Tansy, Mrs. Siday and I took almost 60 P4, P5, P6 and P7 children to Eyemouth Library to get their library cards and, of course, a book. It was the first time at the library for so many – some are already grand wee readers, some are not, some are going to give it their best.

They were told to choose a book for themselves, whether it was a quick read, whether it had an exciting cover or whether it was full of illustrations and jokes. In fact, they could choose any book at all, one that they wanted to read.

So let’s see how we get on, kids. I am about to start another Anne Cleves book, which one I am not yet sure of as I have a few. I’ll let you know!!
