I haven’t blogged for some weeks. When the schools come to the end of June and close for the summer, I tend to do the same – close down and have a mental holiday. But now the schools have returned for a new term, here I am again!
I am so looking forward to several events. On Saturday 17 September, I’m off to Manchester where I will be speaking at this year’s Patron of Reading Conference about my different, yet similar experiences, at Eyemouth Primary School and Holy Trinity Primary School in Berwick-upon-Tweed, two different schools in two different countries. This will be very exciting as I hope to meet lots of writers and discover a lot of new books for children.
The second event is the Eyemouth International Storytelling Festival which will take place on Friday 21st October. All I will say is that year we will have more than 500 children and our international storytellers will be Mauricio Patina from Colombia and Daniel Hernandes from Chile. They have already been in touch.
As for my own reading, I have just bought a beautiful book of Norwegian stories, called East of the Sun. I love the illustrations by Kay Nielsen. But I have to finish Peter May’s book called Coffin Road first. There so many great books out there!
