Sorry to all the kids of Eyemouth Primary School. I promised that I would read a crime novel by Anne Cleves. Well, I lied! I came back to Bridge of Weir on Saturday and found, underneath the sofa, a fabulous book by one of my favourite authors, Mairi Hedderwick, Katie Morag’s mum.

This book has a very long title as it is called An Eye On The Hebrides, An Illustrated Journey by Mairi Hedderwick. It is fab! I bought it in a charity shop for 50P and it is a joy! It has also been signed by Mairi herself.

Mairi went on a journey around the islands of the West Coast of Scotland in an old-fashioned camper van and this is the story of her adventures. I love her stories but I also love her illustrations, lovely watercolours of wee villages, houses, piers, cattle, sheep and bairns playing.
