Yesterday was just the most magical day. I was invited to Craigmillar Library in Edinburgh to the launch of the Tesco Bank Summer Reading Challenge organised by The Reading Agency. It was fab.

Nick Overfield of Eyemouth Library and I have already done The Six Book Challenge and no doubt we will sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge. It’s really meant for kids but I don’t think this will stop us. Another six books in six weeks – easy, peasy!!

As for the event at Craigmillar Library which is the most beautiful library ever with its own coffee shop, the star turn was Mairi Hedderwick, author of the Katie Morag books. She was just a joy and all the kids recognised as Katie Morag’s mum. Mairi signed my own copy of Katie Morag’s Island Stories to all the children of Eyemouth Primary School for the school library.

Thanks to Kate Caldwell and all the staff and also to Sue Wilkinson of The Reading Agency. I learned a lot!
